An Abandoned Warehouse, The Abandoned Warehouse District, Sunday Afternoon
While Rahl and Nicci were in a another part of the warehouse presumably making preparations for returning to the Midlands, Cara took a moment to evaluate her position. All things considered, it could be worse.
Sure, she was in chains, but the warehouse hadn't been set up properly for it, her feet were on the ground, and there was a support beam she could rest her weight against. And if she could felt the bruises forming under her leathers, well, she was Mord'Sith, she'd been bruised worse than this in play.
Besides, when all was said and done, much as he enjoyed it, when he didn't have magical cheats handy Darken Rahl wasn't quite as good at torture as he thought he was. Not by Mord'Sith standards.
Especially not when she knew she only had to endure this so long before they and she could end thing one way or the other.

It wasn't too long before he found what he was looking for and burst inside, moving in a blur of red and blue to Cara's side. "Cara! What's going on?"
No, he didn't think to release the girl before starting in on the questions.

But clearly it was just fine and dandy for her.

Clark, Wizard's Web. Wizard's Web, Clark. Nicci was sure they'd be great friends.

"And I see she's not the only one." He said, eyeing the broken chains dangling off Cara's wrists. "I can see how you might have caught Cara's interest." If Clark didn't feel vaguely dirty after that, then he should.

Or was that Clark's inability to move away from the creeper talking?
"Let Cara go," he said, eyes the only thing able to track Rahl's movements. "Strength isn't all I possess."

"Now why would I want to do that?" he asked, grinning at Clark as he stroked Cara's face. "Cara and I have such history."

"His han is like none I've ever seen before." Maybe not as powerful as Richard's had been, but almost mesmerising.

And with that ring around his neck, suddenly he felt very free to act on those feelings, reaching out to grab Rahl by the neck with one hand. "You will never touch her again," Clark told him. Yeah, apparently that collar thing didn't work on aliens.

He gasped out something that might have been a question, but between the choking and surprise it was hard to be clear.

At least she dispelled the Wizard's Web before making her exit?

"That powerful enough for you?"
no subject
Not that Rahl's groan really held that much coherence.

But at the same time Clark was the one who was going to have to live with killing him once he calmed down and (even if part of her liked this angrier Clark far more than she should) he didn't deserve that. "Clark. Stop."

Rahl didn't deserve his notice when Cara was battered and possibly in need of medical attention. "Cara, are you okay?"
no subject
"I've had worse." Cara didn't mention where and how since that would not help with the keeping Clark from beating anyone into a lifeless pulp plan.

This wasn't a tactical retreat, this was him fleeing.

And to be honest, he sort of needed her, too.

Yes, it was Kahlan and Richard's thing. Yes, she mocked them often and loudly about it. It wasn't like they'd care that she was stealing it.
no subject
Even if he was still wearing a stupid collar thing.

She broke away just long to mumble something that sounded suspiciously like "I love you", kissing him again before Clark could respond or she could panic about the fact she'd just said that. Aloud. To his face.

When he did finally pull away, it was to wipe the hair out of her face and tell her, "I love you, too." Thus implying that he heard her and knew it and that she'd technically won something there.
