Cara's Apartment, Tuesday Evening

The thing about not being able to cook bake worth a damn, was that when you got a craving for the nutcakes your girlfriend liked and there weren't any left, you had to go out and buy them. Naturally, there'd also been a sudden glut of customers, so she'd had to wait even longer, since she wasn't allowed to scare them off if she wanted to actually get served.

Still, she'd gotten what she'd gone out for, and now Cara was triumphantly closing the apartment door behind her, content in the knowledge she likely wouldn't have to deal with any more idiots in the near future.

[For she who knows who she is]

Luckily, Cara was only going to have to deal with her favorite idiot. The one that thought B&E made a thoughtful anniversary gift.

"You don't even have leftover pizza in your fridge," Surreal complained, waltzing in and waving half a frozen waffle at her girlfriend for emphasis. Look, you have your snack foods, Surreal has hers. "It's all mystery leftovers. Even Tersa can label things, although sometimes it's 'yes' or 'no' or 'poisonous stay out.'"

"I don't know about that, sugar. Pretty sure I can turn some of those into something lethal with very little work," Surreal teased, flopping down bonelessly on the couch to take another big bite of her waffle. "--and since I'm playing hookey, I might as well whip you up some nice additives for your agiels and blades."

Surreal bared her teeth and held on to her waffle. "Do you even know which box is going to be your lunch tomorrow?" she challenged. Because, Cara, you do not get Surreal's food. Not without a fight.

It was either get them and know Surreal was probably going to eat them all, or deal with Surreal filling her freezer with them anyway. Really, Cara had a no-win situation on her hands.

"Which one?" she asked suspiciously, not letting go of the waffle yet. "--and can you tell which container it is without opening it?"

"I moved everything," Surreal admitted, using her free hand to try and wack Cara's nose like a naughty kitten. "I was looking for the pizza."

"Did you stop ordering the two-for-ones with the giant-size?" Surreal laughed, and she was going to bite at the fingers trying to restrain her hand, yes. "Or are you training enough that you're not getting slow from all that cheese?"

"Nothing, because the only people who do it can be real witches?" Surreal offered sweetly. And yes, showing her teeth. "You really should work on your security, you know."

"A ten-year-old could pick those locks," Surreal said, biting back. "It's no wonder you have problems with witch-girls eating your food."

Lily was probably objecting somewhere that she was older than ten. Surreal did not care.

"You should thank me, sugar. For improving your security and helping to clean your icebox."
