The Unexplored Wooded Area, En Route to the Onsen, Early Monday Morning

Cara had a plan. A brilliant plan. A plan that involved uninterrupted soaking in very hot water for an indecently long stretch of time. Cara quite liked her plan. Especially since taking a short-cut through the woods would mean she'd get to the Onsen to put her plan into action all the sooner.

Sadly, Cara was as yet unaware that she was not the only person in Fandom with a plan.

[For the gobliny ones.]

The goblins did so love it when the humans traveled through the woods. It made hiding that much easier. And it was so much more fun to hide themselves behind fallen logs and trees so they could whisper and laugh and make plans of their own.

Beady little eyes were watching Cara move through the words but the goblins remained hidden and laughing.

Hey, these goblins were stupid. Cara was lucky they were even hiding and hadn't just skittered out in front of her to do a little dance in hopes of charming her into coming with them.

They didn't, though. They kept moving along quietly with Cara, occasionally whispering or laughing or something else that couldn't be coherently heard because of their hiding place.

One goblin kicked a heavy log and yelped loudly only to be smacked and shut up by his other goblin friends. Maybe Cara hadn't heard that?

The goblins stopped moving when she did. The one who'd just kicked the log was still making pained sounds but otherwise, it was fairly quiet until...

"There's no one here! Go along your way." The voice was hissed and high pitched but almost lilting, as if it was trying to hypnotize Cara into believing that.

There was an immediate shushing from all around Cara as the other goblins took exception to the words.

Well, that was no good. The goblins gave chase, emerging from their hiding places and using their small size and larger numbers to try and surround Cara to stop her from running.

They got tired of running after awhile. These goblins really needed to exercise more.

The goblins stopped and circled around Cara slowly. There were a lot of them and they were all watching her, stepping closer to her save for the one who was still hobbling feebly on the foot he'd hurt earlier.

"You should come with us," one said, crooking a finger at her. "We have..."

Well, what did humans like? Several goblins grouped together to discuss that before breaking their huddle.

"Beets!"

Not a great answer.

Several of the goblins went flying backwards while the rest immediately came at Cara, flinging their small bodies all over her with aggressive intent. They used fists and feet and teeth and whatever else they could to try and incapacitate her to the point that they could tie her up.

Several of the goblins that had gone flying earlier had gotten back to their feet and started throwing large rocks Cara's way. Two enterprising goblins even threw one of their smaller brethren at Cara's head so he could try and gouge at her eyes.

They were nasty little goblins, that was certain.

The goblins were beginning to see that and they were seriously wondering why everyone had to fight. Jareth's castle was amazing! She'd have fun but noooo, she just had to be violent.

The goblins weren't going to give up either and they continued hurling rocks, some big and some not at her head. They punched at her body and some of them dropped off her so they could get a running start and hurl themselves at her again to try and knock her off balance.

The goblins would say this was just tough love. And they would say they were succeeding too since they'd gotten her off her feet which meant they could pounce on her and jump on her and try and get some rope around her legs to keep her down.

The rocks kept coming but the goblins had added dirt to throw into her eyes and sticks to poke at her all the while they talked excitedly in between yowls of pain.

With the girl finally quiet, the goblins went about tying her completely up so they could slowly drag her to the castle.

Later, they were so going to make her eat beets since she'd refused their offer. They would have their revenge!
